Uppsala Vokalensemble is an independent choir with about thirty singers. The choir was founded in 1964 by one of the university fraternity organisations. In 1980 the choir disjoined itself from the university whilst under the leadership of conductor Håkan Parkman (1955-1988), and since then has established itself as one of Uppsala’s best choirs with an ambition to constantly evolve.
The choir currently rehearse on Mondays 18:45 – 21:30 in Helga Trefaldighets kyrka, Domkyrkoplan 5-7.
The choir has a wide range of repertoire, but mostly sing classical music a cappella. Occasionally Uppsala Vokalensemble perform with musicians / orchestras, as well as cooperating with other choirs and soloists.
The requirements for joining Uppsala Vokalensemble is the ability to read and have a good ear for music.
